Born and raised in Oil City, Pennsylvania, graduating from Oil City Senior High in 1973. I attended Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pennsylvania for my Bachelors degree, graduating in 1977. I married in July of 1979. Was an art teacher for seven years in Ashtabula, Ohio with one of those years being at the university level as an Assistant Professor of Art. Also during this time I was accepted at Rhode Island School of Design for a Masters program which I graduated from in 1984. In 1986 we moved to Maryland where I continued my teaching career with Harford County Public Schools. Our son was born that same year. I was accepted at the Maryland Institute College of Art for their MFA in Studio Art, which I completed in 1995. In 2009 I was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer. When the word cancer becomes connected to you it truly changes ones perspective. So in 2012 after 33 years of teaching from K- College I decided to retire so I could concentrate more on my own artwork. I am also in the process of writing a book on the teaching of art from a studio perspective while utilizing technology to help aid in the presentation of those lessons.
